Dana Mentink lives in California where the weather is golden and the cheese is divine. Her family includes two girls (affectionately nicknamed Yogi and Boo Boo.) Papa Bear works for the fire department and he met Dana doing a dinner theater production of The Velveteen Rabbit. Ironically, their parts were husband and wife.

Dana is a 2009 American Christian Fiction Writers Book of the Year finalist for romantic suspense and an award winner in the Pacific Northwest Writers Literary Contest. ?Her October release, Betrayal in the Badlands, won a 2010 Romantic Times Reviewer?s Choice Award.?

She spent her college years competing in speech and debate tournaments all around the country. Besides writing, she busies herself teaching Sunday school and working in second/third grade combination class. Mostly, she loves to be home with her family, a dog with social anxiety problems, a chubby box turtle and a quirky parakeet.?

I?m Dana Mentink and I write inspirational romantic suspense for Harlequin.? August marks the release of my seventh book with Harlequin entitled Buried Truth. Here?s a little taste of the story:
Buried Truth
At age forty-five, Tribal Agent Bill Cloudman was living out his calling in the rugged Badlands of South Dakota with a partner whom he loved like a son. One bust gone wrong and his partner dies at the hands of outlaw Oscar Birch. When Oscar escapes from prison, Bill knows the truth. Oscar will come after him and that?s just fine with Bill. He?s got no one to answer to and he and God are no longer on speaking terms. Revenge is what he?s living for.
Heather Fernandes is an outsider. Forced from her prestigious job as science writer for an east coast magazine because of her drinking, humiliated after being arrested by Bill Cloudman for drunk driving, the forty-three year old leaves South Dakota behind and starts a new life. When circumstances draw her back to the Badlands, she has no idea that her attraction to Bill, and her reporter?s impulse to find the truth, will put her in the line of fire. Together Bill and Heather must outwit a madman and uncover an explosive secret or their life and love will be forever buried in the South Dakota sands.
The novel is a bit different than those I?ve written before in that the protagonists are more mature, shall we say. Different than the usual twenty somethings often featured in romantic suspense, Bill and Heather have seen a bit of life (and been burned by it.) Featured too, is Choo Choo the dog, a senior citizen rescued animal who plays his own role in the story. Add to that an otherworldly setting, the South Dakota Badlands, and I?m hoping the novel will provide twists and turns and thrills aplenty all the way to the surprise ending. My next book, Escape from the Badlands, is the final book in the series due out in January of 2012.
