Public university employees to resume protests

JERUSALEM (Ma?an) -- The union of public university and college employees announced Monday that they will resume protest action if the Ministry of Education does not take their demands seriously.

The union told Ma'an that classes will be suspended after 11 a.m. on Tuesday and employees will picket in front of university offices.

On Wednesday employees will go on a full strike, the union added.

Employees of government universities and technical colleges have been engaged in strikes since February, demanding a raise in salaries to match the wages of private universities.

The union of employees represents Al-Aqsa University in Gaza, Palestine Technical College, Palestinian technical colleges in Deir Al-Balah, Arroub refugee camp and Ramallah, as well as the Science and Technology College in Khan Younis and Al-Ummah College in Jerusalem.
